![]() ![]() The power-jockeying of Game of Thrones may have been hard enough for viewers to keep track of the last go-around, so this time, House of the Dragonis mainly sticking to the drama of one royal family. ![]() It's been three years since the controversial finale of Thrones, and this prequel is hurtling us back to not just the world of Westeros itself-but 200 years in the past. ![]() House of the Dragon, the first of many Game of Thronesspinoffs to battle it out in pre-production for a green light from HBO, will officially grace our screens this Sunday. Most of the husbands and wives have also dropped off the tree if they don't play a part in the story, and so have many 'extra' children.This story contains spoilers for Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. That would be marvellous if we had unlimited space, like the inside of Martin's imagination, but alas we have to fit it on a typical phone screen.Īs we can't possibly cover them all, we've limited ourselves to the people who appear in House of the Dragon or Game of Thrones and/or who are central to the direct line of Targaryen succession. Modelling his dynasties on the royal houses of Europe, George RR Martin has faithfully given everyone loads of kids, with extra brothers and sisters and bonus dodgy uncles, and every one of them has a distinct personality and bloody history. Our chief problem is that there are just too many people involved. (You'd think that would keep things simpler, but no-o-o, not when you're drawing a family tree.) So we've had to makes some arbitrary rules, much like a Targaryen king or queen would. ![]() It's not easy, of course – never is with Targaryens, what with their insistence on in-breeding. Whether you're a fan of House of the Dragontrying to keep up with the dynastic developments, a Game of Thrones fan wondering where it all began, or a member of the Targaryen family looking for singles in your area, this is the article for you. ![]()
